Research Funding Opportunities
Wyoming
NASA
Space Grant Consortium staff are available to help with
preparation of NASA research proposals.
We may be able to provide funds for research initiation, and for travel
to NASA centers to discuss/establish collaborations
(see our Faculty Grants
page for more information).
We are also available to help design and collaborate on education/public outreach
elements.
Please feel free to contact us for assistance.

Postdoctoral Fellowships:
NASA Postdoctoral Program
The NASA Postdoctoral Program is administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities and supports excellence in postdoctoral research. It provides a unique opportunity for scientists whose research interests are compatible with NASA's programs to perform cutting-edge research. Visit the NASA Postdoctoral Program's website for background information, stipends, benefits, eligibility and application procedures. Application deadlines are March 1, July 1, and November 1 annually.
The National Academies Fellowship Opportunities List
The National Academies offer several different postdoctoral fellowships in science, engineering and medicine (including early-, mid-, and late-career opportunities).
National Research Council (NRC) Resident Research Associateship (RRA) Program
Provides recent doctoral
scientists and engineers of unusual promise and ability, or senior
scientists and engineers, with temporary (typically 2 years) full-time
residence at Goddard Space Flight Center
(GSFC)
to perform independent research in collaboration
with GSFC scientists or engineers to contribute to the overall efforts
of GSFC. The Program provides an opportunity for concentrated research
in association with selected members of the permanent professional
laboratory staff, often as a climax to formal career preparation. For
established scientists and engineers, the Program affords an
opportunity for research without the interruptions and distracting
assignment of permanent career positions. Administered for NASA by the
National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences.
Associates must devote their full-time effort to the
research programs proposed in their applications, and be in residence
at Goddard during the entire period of the Associateship. No
additional monetary aid or other remuneration may be accepted from
another appointment, fellowship, or similar grant, except for
sabbatical leave.
U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or citizens of
any "friendly" country are eligible. Applicants must have a
Ph.D., Sc.D., or other earned doctoral research degree before the
start of the appointment.
Annual application deadlines are Feb. 1, May 1, Aug.
1, and Nov. 1 - Research proposals and supporting documents must be
postmarked by these dates.
American Association for the Advancement of Science one-year Science and Technology Policy Fellowships
If you have a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree in the social, physical, or biological sciences, or are an engineer with a master's degree and three years of professional experience, you are eligible to apply for AAAS's one-year Science and Technology Policy Fellowships. The fellowship programs are designed to provide each individual with a unique public-policy learning experience and to bring technical backgrounds and external perspectives to decision-making in the U.S. government.
Connecting Scientists and Science Teaching:
NSF Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12 Education
This program supports fellowships and associated training that will enable graduate students and advanced undergraduates in the sciences, mathematics, engineering, and technology to serve as resources in K-12 schools. Academic institutions apply for awards to support fellowship activities, and are responsible for selecting fellows. The fellows will serve as resources for teachers in science and mathematics instruction. Expected outcomes include improved communication and teaching skills for the fellows, enriched learning by K-12 students, professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers, and strengthened partnerships between institutions of higher education and local school districts.
Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE)
"This program will facilitate reform in geoscience education by funding programs that connect the work of scientists to the practice of teaching and learning science in the classroom."
